Adelaide born James Black moved to Melbourne in the late 70s to play keyboards and guitar with Russell Morris and Jo Jo Zep and the Falcons before eventually eventually becoming a founding member of Mondo Rock. He later spent 2 years touring the world and recording with Men At Work and another incredible band…GANGgajang!
In the late 80s James started to record with The Black Sorrows playing on all their albums and producing “Beat Club” in 1998 , he was nominated for a second ARIA for Producer of The Year, in 2013 performed keyboards with Gurrumul and The Sydney Symphony Orchestra and, along the way, was involved in playing, writing and producing albums and film soundtracks too!
For 12 years, from 2005, James donned a white hat and became well known as the musical director and music producer for the SBS TV show Rockwiz and its spin off live shows….he continues to tour and record with The Black Sorrows and,
somewhere in his crazy schedule, will wear yet another hat ( or the same one!) as a Filthy Animal!
Welcome James!
